    War Begins
    Austin goes to Mexico City to present a list of requested reforms to Mexican officials. Santa Anna learned about the letter. Since the requests were not met the rebellion was beginning. Austin was jailed for almost a year by Santa Anna.

    Mexican soldiers marched to the town of Gonzales. They had orders to take a cannon that the Texans used to fight the Native Americans. Mexican troops failed to take the cannon.

    Seige Of The Alamo
    Santa Anna's troops surrounded the Alamo. Santa Anna attacked nightly. On the 13th night Santa Anna and his troops broke through the walls and captured the Alamo.

    The Meeting
    Texans met at a settlement called Washington-on-the-brazos to decide what to do about Santa Anna's troops. They decided to declare Texas an independent country and they appointed Sam Houston to the head of the Texan army.

    Houston suprised Santa Anna with an attack. The attack lasted about 18 minutes. After the battle they had Santa Anna at gunpoint and forced him to sign a treaty.
