    Arguments between Texas and Mexico got very heated. The Texans challenged the Mexicans with a flag that said " Come and Take It" both sides started shooting each other. This is now known as the Battle of Ganzales the first battle of the Texas revolution

    In this battle an army of 750 men for the Texans and an army of over 1500 men for the mexicans met on an open praire. Sam Houston sent four Texans to destroy Vince's bridge cutting off any way of escape for the Mexicans. As the war began the texans shouted "Remember the Alamo" and "Remember Goliad" 700 mexicans were killed and 730 were taken in as prisoners. The Texans had won!

After what looked like a sure Union victory, all but one confederate ship left, the battle took a unexpected turn and came out as a confederate victory leavung the people of Galveston still in control of their island.
