    Age of Exploration Begins

    The Euoropian explorers went to the new world for God, Gold and Glory. Columbus was looking for spices when he was in America. Most explorers where from Spain and France in the age of exploration. A conquistador is Spanish for conqueror.Cortes is the explorer that tore down Tenochitilan and founded New Spain.
  • Jan 1, 1517

    Pineda Maps the Texas Coast

    Pineda started out in Jamaica and went around Cuba. They then landed in Florida. And then explored the Texas and Mexico.

  • Cabeza De Vaca Shipwreck

    Cabeza was captured by the Apalachee. Diseases killed many natives and explorers. When Cabeza arrived in Mexico the people thought his stories were fantastic.

  • La Salle lands in Texas

    France began challenging Spain for Texas. La Salle came across the Mississippi River Delta.

  • Coronado sets out for Cibola

    Cibola is a native name for a pueblo. Coronado thought Cibola was in Texas because Cabeza De Vaca said it was. Coronado did not find any Cibola in Texas. Coronado still did find the Grand Canyon and other landmarks.

  • Marques De Rubi Inspects Texas

    Rubi’s mission was to inspect the mission in the New World. New Spain sent Rubi on his mission. 2 recommendations that de Rubi made after his journey was, the Indians would not turn Catholic and the mission are not will protective.

    The Louisiana purchase meant for US-Spanish that all their land in America will be sold to USA. These 3 countries still claimed land in North America after the Louisiana purchase Spain, France, New England.

  • Stephen F. Austin Establishes a colony

    An empresario is a person who as been granted the ability to make/start a colony. SFA establish his colony in the southwest of Texas. Some of the requirements Mexico made SFA’s colony meet was that the people had to Catholic Describe the “Old 300.” The fact I hey were about 300 family that originally were going to colonize. Some challenges in establishing the colony is how to get the colony into Texas with the Indains.

  • Fort St. Louis Founded

    Fort St. Louis is located in south Texas. Fort St. Louis was founded by La Salle. This Fort failed because this fort murdered La Salle. They also missed the mouth of the Mississippi River. La Salle was murdered by his own expedition.

  • Mission San Francisco founded

    The porpoise of a mission is to convert natives to Christianity. The Father ran the mission. Spain is the country that is responsible for building missions. The southwest was the affiliated with. Not all missions were successful. They failed because some Indians died from diseases. The prisons were the buildings that protected the missions.

  • Philip Nolan Expedition

    A filibuster is a Military adenturer who want Texas to become Detached from Spain. 2 other filibuster besides Philip Nolan is Peter E. Bean and Father Hldalgo. Jean Lafitte is a pirate who stole from the rich and gave it to the poor (maybe that was Robin Hood) or just stole from Texas/Mexican government.

  • Moses Austin asks permission for a colony

    The Spanish grant Austin permission to establish a colony so that America can't buy it and they can make good use of it. Moses died before he could establish his colony.
