    Age of Explorations begins

    The Europeans wanted God, glory, gold. Columbus was looking for a sea passage to Asia. Most explorers were from Spain, Portugul, and France. Conquistador means conquer. Cortez tore down Tenochtitlan and found new Spain.

    Pineda Maps Texas Coast

    Pineda made the first document in Texas history. He also found out that there is no sea passage to Asia.

    Cabeza Devaca Shipwrecks

    The Karankawa's captured Cabeza Devaca. Most of the natives at that time were dying from diseases. When Cabeza De Vaca arrived in Mexico, they thought Cibola was in Texas after hearing his stories.

    Coronado Sets out for Cibola

    Cibola is seven cities of gold. Coronado thought Cibola was in Texas because Cabeza De Vaca told him stories that Cibola was in Texas and that it is a wonderful place. They did not find Cibola. The important landmark is the Grande Canyon.
  • LaSalle Lands in Texas

    France started challenging Spain, for Texas. LaSalle discovered the Mississippi river
  • Fort St. Louis

    Fort St. Louis is in Texas, Present day Aresona creek and was founded by LaSalle. Fort St. Louis failed because the French failed at growing and got too many attacks. LaSalle died by mutiny.

    The purpose of a mission is to convert the Texans. The Friars led the missions. Spain is responsible for building missions. The religion is Catholics. The missions were not successful. The missions failed because they died of diseases and the Indians did not want to be converted. The buildings gat protected the missions were the presidio.
  • Marques De Rubi Inspects Texas

    De Rubi's mission was to got to Texas and tell Spain the missions turned out. King Carlos the third told De Rubi to go on his mission. Some recommendations that de Rubi made after his mission is to abandon east Texas, another one was to exterminate the Lipan Apache Indians.

    Mexico gained there independence from Spain. The constitution of Cadiz was established for Mexico. Mexico was joined with Texas at the time.
  • Moses Austin asks Permission for colony

    The Spanish granted Moses Austin permission to establish a colony fee cause the spraining wanted the population to increase. Moses died right before he could establish a colony.
  • Stephen F Austin establishes his colony

    An empresario is the right of being granted to settle on the land of Mexico in exchange for taking care for the new settlers. SFA established his colony in Texas. Some requirements Mexico made SFA is that the people had to be catholic and at least 500 families. SFA grated 300 families to come into his colony and it is called "The Old 300." A challenge was that there was a flood of American immigrants and there were too many people.Moses Austin, Lorenzo de zavala are examples of empresarios.

    The goal of the fredonian rebellion was to secede from Mexico. The Edward brothers were upset with Mexican Texas, they declared independence from it. The fredonian rebellion led to the Texas Revolution.

    The goal of the Expidition is to secede from Mexico. Mier y Teran was sent to protect the region. The recondmendations that he made was that trade should be increased from Texas to Mexico, send more solders to Texas, and Mexico should encourage Europeans and Mexicans to settle in Texas.

    The Law of April 6 banned U.S. Immigration ( did not allow new slaves ), suspended unfiled empresario contracts, premoted Mexican immigration, can build new forts, they raised taxes

    Stephen F Austin got arrested because he was persuading the government to change their ideas. Stephen Austin stopped this after he got out of jail.
  • Battle of Gonzales

    A small cannon was givin to the settlers from Mexico and then they wouldn't give it back and Mexico went to retrieve it. The Mexicans surrendered. " come and take it" flag.
  • San Antonio de Bexar Seige

    A Seige is a city where people surround and don't let anyone in or out. Mexico controlled San Antonio before and Texas controlled after.

    2 important documents that were created was the Declaration of Independence and the constitution of republic of Texas.
  • The Alamo Falls

    William Travis, David Crocket, and James Bowie were 3 notable defenders. There was an estimate of 200 Texas solders and thousands of Mexican solders. Sam Houston didn't send reinforcements because he knew that all of Santa Anna's army would be there.
  • Goliad Massacure

    Fannin and his men lost the battle of Coleto. Sam Houston ordered the Massacure of Fannin and his men. Over 300 Mexicans died during that Massacure.

    Everybody was moving east. The purpose of the runaway scrape was to grabas many things and get out of Texas. Everyone was running away because Santa Anna was coming after them. People thought that Sam Houston was a coward but the. Turned into the hero.
  • Battle of San Jacinto

    "Remember the Alamo," Remember Gonzelas!" 2 to 640 people died. Santa Anna pretended to be a solder and then the Texans won.
