The Karankawa's captured Cabeza Devaca. Most of the natives at that time were dying from diseases. When Cabeza De Vaca arrived in Mexico, they thought Cibola was in Texas after hearing his stories. -

Cibola is seven cities of gold. Coronado thought Cibola was in Texas because Cabeza De Vaca told him stories that Cibola was in Texas and that it is a wonderful place. They did not find Cibola. The important landmark is the Grande Canyon. -
