Cabeza de Vaca was captured by the Karankawas. Most of the Natives who were dying at the time were dying of disease. When he finally arrived in Mexico, the people thought that Cibola was in Texas after hearing his stories.

Cibola is seven mythical cities made of gold. Coronado thought Cibola was in Texas because Cabeza de Vaca told stories of Cibola being in Texas. They did not ever find Cibola. They did however, find the Grand Canyon.

Fort St. Louis is in Texas near present day Aresona Creek, which was founded by La Salle. Unfortunately, the French failed at growing crops and there were too many Native attacks. La Salle died from muteny.
