    Houston arrives in Gonzales and orders all to burn the city and head eastward away from Santa Anna. Many were upset but Houston knew they were not ready for a fight.

    Massacre at Goliad. While Santa Anna’s main army traveled north to San Antonio, Gen. Jose Urrea went on to Goliad and defeated Col. James Fannin and they were executed.

    The Battle of San Jacinto
    Houston and his 700 men led a surprise attack at 4:30 PM and turned the Mexican army’s flank forcing the men back into their comrades causing panic. The battle lasted 18 minutes. Santa Anna lost 630 men to Houston’s 2. They caught Santa Anna trying to escape in the confusion of the battle.
  • Santa Anna Accepts the Tready of Velasco

    Santa Anna Accepts the Tready of Velasco
    Santa Anna accepted the treaty of Velasco which recognized the independence of Texas and established the Rio Grande as Mexico’s border with the republic.
