  • Radio

    Radio
The first radio broadcast took place in 1920 and has been innovating ever since. Radio has changed significantly since then, specifically when it comes to music being aired. I had heard the radio before 2003 riding shotgun in the car but I never really appreciated it until I was 8. I remember sitting in my room tuning into K102 and hearing Keith Urban singing, "You Look Good in My Shirt". From that moment on I become a country music fan. My first experience with radio is vivid and enjoyable.
  • Email/AIM

    Email/AIM
Email started in the early 1990s and has lead to countless online communication tools since. I got my first email account in 5th grade so by then instant messaging was added to this new phenomena. I would only use it to get emails from my grandparents or to instant message my cousin but it was fun to be able to stay in touch with them since they lived far away. I sure didn't use it much but little did I know it would soon lead to social media sites.
  • iTunes/iPod

    iTunes/iPod
iTunes began in 2001 as a basic digital music player. Shortly after, iPods were released as a means to download the music to a personal device. I received my first iPod/iTunes account in 7th grade and I thought it was the greatest thing ever. Now I could have my favorite music right in my hand. The largest change from invention until I got my account was the amount of music able to be listened to and the amount of storage available. I still use my 10-year-old iPod to this day.
  • Facebook

    Facebook
Facebook was founded in 2004 and was intended to connect people who went to Harvard. It soon became a world wide phenomena that would connect every one across the world. I got Facebook right before my freshman year of high school so I could stay in touch with my friends from junior high. Facebook has changed dramatically since. Now people can write posts, share hundreds of photos and connect with anyone. Employers even use it to see what kind of a person you are.
  • Cell Phone

    Cell Phone
The first cell phone was produced by Motorola in 1973, 36 years before I received my first flip phone heading into high school. Getting your first cell phone is a milestone for every young person now and it was no different for me. Now I could text and call my parents when school was done and even talk to my friends when I wasn't with them. This made planning and getting together much easier. Since then, the things one can do on a cell phone from taking photos to video chatting is incredible!
  • Laptop

    Laptop
The first computer was created in the 1930s t to form arithmetic and calculate things. The abilities of computers now is hard to believe. I received my first MacBook Pro when I graduated high school. It gave me the ability to do school work efficiently as well as have all my documents, social media, search engines, etc. all in one place. Since I purchased my first laptop, computers are become much smaller, thinner and faster than ever before. I still use my MacBook Pro today.
