On this day, Martin Luther King was assisnated while standing outside of his room at the Lorraine Hotel in Memphis, TN. The assailant, James Earl Ray, was captured in London shortly after Dr. King's death. John Carlos aka, two athletes that straight up gave no f's during the '68 Summer Olympics. These two showed the entire world where they stand in regards to racial disrimination in the U.S.
Unfortunately they were condemned by the International Olympic Committee, which highlights a sad, but true, facet of race relations across the globe. Which is to say, 'damned if you do, damned if you don't', or rather, 'damned if your a minority, and damned if your a minority' -

We did a whole bunch of stuff up there in the 60's, I'd like to think it had a lot to do with Star Trek and the Cold War (admittidely the latter is more of a reason than the previous).
