The Song dynasty wa fored by the military of Khitans to sign embarrising treaties with their northern military neighbors. The treaties made the Song have to pay a heavy tribute to the Liao Dnasty.

Son of Emperor Taizong

In Son of Emperor Taizong's time , the military power of Song was strengthened but he signed the first humiliating treaty with the Liao Dynasty (916 - 1125). Especially, he founded the famous ceramic kiln in Jingdezhen

Song Emperor Renzong

Song Emperor Renzong chosed two concubines over empress. then Empress Guohou accidentally injured Renzong with two finger scratches in the neck while arguing with Concubine Shang. Renzong. against the objections of some of the ministers, they removed the empress froem her postion.

Wang Anshi

He was a Chinese econmist, statesman, chancellor, he tried controversal things, major social and economic reforms and was a Confucian scholar. Wang tried for 20 yearrs to right the defects in the imperial order.

The Flight to South China

Emperor ShinZong died and Wang was favoered by him. When the new Emperor came they apposed eachother, and peasant unrest grew throughout the empire. Also there was alot of rebelions and banditry from within the empire. The millitary proved no match for the threat beyond teh borders.

Junchen/Jin Dynasty

The chinese goverment asked the Junchen people that roam in the northeast china, For help aginst the Liao Empire. The Junchen endded up putting the Song Dynasty in danger. The jin Dynasty ruler was the wanyan and Agud.

Yui Fei Battles the Jin Dynasaty

Hatered Yui Fei battles teh Jin dynasty inflicting crushing defeats and retaking much lost territory from the song dynasty. Yui Fei is betrayed by Quin Hui and arrested by Emperor Gao Zong and exicuted.

Song and Jin dynasty developed a stable envirment

Gaozong signed a treaty making peace with the Jin to the north, and to pay tribute to it in exchange for retaining sovereignty over southern China.

Northern Song would face off with the Western Xia and Khitan Liao in a triangle. After a defeat by the Khitans, Song Dynasty never tried to retake Peking [Beijing] again.

1240-1270 The Mongals take over

Mongals started from south Song becoming greatly populated aftrer being unified under Grenghis Khan in 1206. Thehy started many invasion. In 1240 they wiped out the Tanguts then turn on the Song Dynasty. They started a war that lasted til 1279.

Kublai khan suceeds

Mongke khan died in 1259, after kubilai khan was elected khakhan in a khurktia and shortly after his brother ariq boke was elected khakhan at a rivaling khuriltai which started a civil war in 1260 asted till 1264

Song Dynasty founded by Zhoa kuanyin

Video of Song DynastyThe Song Dynasty was founded by a military commander named, Zhoa Kuanyin. Zhoa as a scholarly man that liked reading more than counting his money. He was renamed Emperior Taizu, after his subodinates inisted he do so. Emperor Taizu had diffiulties overoiming the Liao Dynasty.
