    By 1757 Great Britain had begun its century-long conquest of India to make it to the "jewel in the crown" of its empire.

    In 1913, Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs in California founded the Ghadar, meaning revolt, Movement in order to raise money for resistance to British colonial rule in India.

    In 1965, the Sikh situation in the United States changed drastically for the better, with new federal legislation that lifted old prohibitions and quotas.
