    1814- Horseshoe Bend
    During the battle of Horseshoe Bend, Houston is wounded twice. This catches the eye of General Andrew Jackson which leads to his promotion of Second Lieutenant.
  • 1818- False Accusations and Promotions

    1818- False Accusations and Promotions
    1818, Houston resigns from the army due to false accusations involving his part on slave trade. Six months later, he passes his bar exam and opens his own law practice. Though returns as he is appointed as Adjutant General of Tennessee, with the military rank of Colonel.

    Houston replaces the two term Governor William Carol of Tennessee by being elected and winning at a 100% rate. He resigns two years after and departs from Nashville to go see his adopted Indian father, Chief Oolooteka (John Jolly) on the Arkansas river across from Illinois.

    Houston is named Major General in the Texan Army. He made peace with the Indians of their region so the Texans would focus their attention on the Independence of their state without any distractions. (Not sure of date.)

    March 1836, as the Alamo was under siege, Texans vote for Houston as the commander in chief of the Texas Army. Houston catches the Mexican forces out of surprise on the river banks of San Jacinto River, beating an army twice its size with proper training in the mere 18 minutes.

    1836, Houston is elected as the first president of the Republic of Texas beating Henry Smith, Stephen F. Austin. , and Mirabeau B. Lamar (vice-president) with a total of 5,119 votes. A month later, he is sworn in for his presidency seat.

    Houston turns over the Presidency to Vice-President Mirabeau Lamar after two years. He had gained recognition from fellow Americans and done many things like stabilizing the currency and securing the safety on the borders of U.S. After, he leaves to Alabama, meeting his future wife. He then comes back, being elected as a member in the Texas Congress.

    1841- Second Term and Santa Anna
    Houston is again swearing his oath under the seat of presidency. During this time, he created a larger army base to keep the Mexicans away from their land. Santa Anna raised Texas and Houston sends 1200 men into Mexico, retaliating S-A's attacks.

    1854- The Opposition to the Kansas-Nebraska Act
    n 1854, Houston alienated Democrats in Texas and the South to show is opposition to the Kansas-Nebraska Bill. He was the only southern senator to support the Compromise of 1850 and oppose the Kansas- Nebraska Act.
  • 1861- The Refusal

    1861- The Refusal
    Houston, who'd been elected governor of Texas in 1859, refused to pledge his allegiance to the Confederate States of America. A Texas legislature later cuts him off his position.
