School was closed because of religious tensions but was eventually reopened in 1866 by bishop Machray.

Colonel R. M. Thomson constructed Thomson house but was killed heroicly in the battle of Somme.

In 1918, when Influenza hit Canada, it soon spread to the school, doctor Moorhead turned the school chapel into an infirmary, all the boys where cured, but sadly, 1 volunteer died.

During wartime, many boys from the school enrolled to fight (and probably die) for there country which caused admissions to be lower.

In 1948 the first flood hit SJR which caused devastating damage to the school’s campus.

In 1950, the Great Flood hit the school, forcing it to relocate.

Tom Bredin sadly passed away, this left a mark on SJR’s history forever with Tom Bredin being an influential person in our history

In 2009, 18-year-old sjr student Kendra Mcbain, died of cancer. She created an event for which the entire schools walks and raises money for cancer.

After a gas leak, Kendra’s Walk was cancelled, this was shocking and frankly very sad.

Nurse Mackray sadly left the school for retirement, she was a great nurse and will be missed. But sometimes she subs so it’s not tooooo bad.
