    The October Manifesto was a document made by Tsar Nicholas II during the peak of the 1905 Revolution. It promised social and political reforms to the government. I chose this political cartoon because I believe it accurately represents this topic.

    The start of WW1, which was also called the Great War, began in 1914. It began due to the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. His murder started war across Europe. I chose this picture because it accurately represents the trench warfare used in the beginning and throughout WW1.

    In 1915, Czar Nicholas II closed the Duma, which alienated many liberals. He then declared himself commander in chief of the army and went to the Eastern Front to try and take control of operations. I chose this picture because it shows him in control and balancing everything.

    This photo shows Kolchak sitting and watching a military exercise alongside his high-ranked peers. It defines how Kolchak was a tyrant in a way and how he felt that he was above the peasants who were fighting for his army. It, therefore, defines one of the major reasons for the Whites' defeat, their disunity and comradery.

    I used a photo of Ukraine in the modern day because it represents how hard-fought of a war the Ukrainians fought in the past and today. They prolonged their occupation for years in pursuit of independence.

    The soldiers by set up artillery in this photo exemplify how these attacks were those that come from a foreign power. These people are defending their homes meaning they have a reason to fight and will therefore fight harder. This may be a reason for the Poles' victory against the Soviets.

    This picture shows how in both nations' fight for independence, they worked together to stop the superpower that is Russia. They have a shared border meaning that it is easier to aid each other and fight their enemies on multiple fronts, and likewise, they do this to Russia to progress both of their goals.

    The Kronstadt Rebellion was an isolated mutiny started by soldiers and sailors. They rebell and fight against the Bolshevik government in Kronstadt which is near Petrograd. The political cartoon depicts a sailor fighting against the government due to political oppression, food shortages etc.
