    Czar Alexander II emancipates the serfs
    Alexander II creates a manifesto that emancipated all serfs.
  • The Assassination of Alexander II

    The Assassination of Alexander II
    Alexander II was killed in a terrorist group's actions to try and overthrow the czar's rule. He was succeeded by his son Alexander III.

    Russia gets into war with Japan thinking it will be an easy and quick win for Russia. Japan ends up capturing Port Arthur which was a very important naval base for Russia.
