    Russia Industrializes
    Russia was finally industrializing, and the problems that come along with industrialization created conflict with russian citizens. Russian citizens created groups based on their beliefs, The Proletariat, and The Bolsheviks.
  • Russo-Japenese war

    Russo-Japenese war
    Russia and Japan were fighting over korea and manchuria. After Russia broke treaties signed between Japan and Russia, Japan attacked Russian ports in Manchuria. This caused outbreak and unrest in Russian citizens.
  • Bloody Sunday

    Bloody Sunday
    200,000 workers protested for better working conditions. Soldiers were ordered to fire on the crowd and over 1,000 people were injured or killed.

    The last thing russia needed was a war, they were extremely unprepared. Nicholas II moved to the warfront to rally his troops and his wife took over the government. She allowed a man to make key political decisions as a sign of gratitude for easing her sons symptoms of a life threatening disease.

    In March 1917 Female textile workers went on a city wide strike. This caused riots to break out and soldiers were appointed to fire. soldiers would end up siding with the protesters and did not fire upon them which caused the czar to step down.

    Nicholas II stepped down from his leadership due to unrest in citizens. There was no government so russia developed a provisional government. The provisional government was lead by alexander kerensky, and his decision to stay in ww1 cost him the support of almost everyone.

    Lenin returned to russia to takeover the government by gaining the support of a nation against their current leader. Through attacks on political offices and the capture of political leader the bolsheviks took over. He used his bolshevik ideology to Lead Russia towards a better path for the country.

    WIthin the first 3 days of lenin's rule, he ordered all farmlands be distributed to peasants and all factories to be controlled by workers. The Bolsheviks signed a treaty with Germany to stop all fighting and began peace talks. The treaty Made may russians angry since it surrendered a large portion of land to germany and they rebelled the Bolsheviks rule.

    The White Army was formed to combat the Bolsheviks. The red army won but the aftermath was horrible. 14 Million deaths followed by a flu epidemic left the country in shreds.

    Through new economic policy Lenin allowed peasants to sell surplus crops to make a profit. The new economic policy let small businesses operate privately for a better economy.
