Russian Revolution Timeline

  • The Decembrist Revolt

    A group of army officers and novles attempted to overthrow the czars government. They were hoping that they could set up a constitutional monarchy. Czar Nicholas I crashed the uprising very fast.
  • Czar Nicholas II abdicates the Russian throne

    This happened during the February Revolution. Provincial government gets put into his place. Petrograd insurgents is who he took abdicated the throne from.
  • Czar Alexander II Emancipates the Serfs

    Alexander II spoke to the people of Moscow to ask if they would consider the emancipation of the serfs. He wanted the Serfs to be free. If they were freed, the Serfs would have to pay an amount of money.
  • The Assassination of Alexander II

    There was a bomb thrown at the carriage that Alexander II was in. The person who killed him was Rysakóff. He was arrested right away.
  • The Russo-Japanese War

    This war was a defeat for Russia. It boosted economic harships at home. Japanese had a naval attack on Port Arthur. Ended September 5, 1905.
  • The Revolution of 1905

    This revolution was one to call for a different government. Started by an open fire by someone. Started by the peaceful protestors on the day of Bloody Sunday.
  • Bloody Sunday

    Many unarmed people joined Father Gapon for a peaceful protest.People asked Nicholas II for better conditions and to have the ability to vote. Soldiers had shot the people in the peaceful protest and layed more than 100 marchers dead.
  • The March Revolution

    90,000 textile workers went on protest on this day about shortage of fuel and bread. By the end of the week, 400,000 people joined the protest. Tzar sent out military troops to shoot protestors.
  • World War I (Russian Involvement)

    Russian collapsed and it left Eastern Europe in tumoil. When war started, Russa rallied around Nicholas II. It ended with the Soviets taking over.
