Emancipation of the serfs
After the emancipation of the serfs, more then 23-million people recieved their freedom and were granted the full rights of free Russian citizens. They were also given land. -
Bloody Sunday
In St. Petersburg, Russia unarmed peaceful protesters were protesting against Czar Nicholas II. They were shot down by the Imperial Guard. -
Revolution of 1905
The Revolution of 1905 began after the Bloody Sunday incident and because of the cruel working and social conditions in the Russian Empire. It led to constitutional monarchy and Russian Constitution of 1906. -
Russia enters WWI
Russia enters WWI after Austria claims that Serbia was involved in the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. -
Rasputin Murdered
Rasputin, who claimed to be a mystic healer, was brought in to be the healer of Tsar Nicholas II's son. After behaving lewdly, nobles including the Prince and the Duke lured Rasputin into a cellar and poisoned him. -
March Revolution
After social and economic impacts from World War I, peasants and soldiers rioted at the capita, St. Petersburg, which led to the overthrowing of Tsar Nicholas II. -
Tsar Nicholas II Abdicates
After the March Revolution, Tsar Nicholas II and his family (The Romanovs) were imprisoned in various places. Later on, the Romanovs would be murdered by the Bolsheviks. -
Bolshevik Revolution
The Bolsheviks, founded by Vladimir Lenon, were a group of working class Russians who wanted democratic centralism. After overthrowing Tsar Nicholas II, the Bolsheviks gave power to the local soviets, later creating the Soviet Union. -
Murder of the Romanovs
After being overthrown, Nicholas Romanov II was placed on house arrest with his family. On the night of July 17, 1918 the former Tsar, his family, the maid, and the family pysician were ordered to their cellar where they were shot to death. -
Treaty of Versailles
The treaty, at the end of WWI, ended the fighting between Germany and the Allied Powers. From the Treaty, Germany aquired a large amount of Russia's territories and resources. -
Lenin Dies
Vladimir Lenin, the creator of the Soviet Communist Party, also formed the USSR. He helped take overthrow the Tsar and created communism. -
Stalin Takes Power
In 1924, Stalin took over, and declared himself the new leader of the USSR. After Lenin's deayth, everyone expected Trotsky to take power, but since everyone thought Trotsky was big-headed, even though he was more cut out for the job then Stalin, Stalin managed to take power.
