The Decembrist Revolt happened on December 26, 1825 and was an unsuccessful uprising led by military leaders against the Czar Nicholas I. It took place in St. Petersburg and led to the revolution. -
Nicholas II Becomes Czar
In 1894 Nicholas II becomes czar of Russia, after his father dies. He is the last Russian czar. -
Russo-Japanese War
In 1904 the Russo-Japanese War began between the Russians and the Japanese because they were fighting over the land of Korea and Manchuria. Since the Russians only had one railroad to transport troops and supplies they lost the war to Japan. -
Bloody Sunday
In 1905 the Russian people tried to peacefully protest against the czar Nicholas II. They wanted more of a say in their government. The police went to turn around the protesters, and when the crowd kept coming closer the military started shooting. 100 marchers were wounded, and hundreds of them were injured. This starts the revolution. -
Russia in WWI
Russia entered WWI in August 1914, and joined the Triple Entente. By the end of the war in 1916 Russia’s economy was was failing, there were many problems with their transportation, and they were running out of food and fuel. -
Duma Created
On March 13 1917 workers went on strike and started protesting in the streets. Nicholas II created Duma to give them more power. -

In March 1917 Czar Nicholas II was forced to abdicate the Russian throne because his people and workers wanted more of a socialist culture and change. -
The Russian Revolution
The Russian Revolution happened in 1918 because the people wanted more power in their government, so they could have a say in the rules being made. They thought the czar took too much from them and they wanted everyone to be equal. -
USSR Established
The creation of the USSR happened in Moscow on the 23-27 of December in 1922. The USSR is also known as the Soviet Union, and became one of the most powerful lands on the earth until the communist government crashed. Stalin was the leader of the Soviet Union and became a dictator. -
Lenin Dies
Lenin died on January 21, 1924 from a brain hemorrhage. And then later put on display in the Red Square. Lenin was the leader of the new communist party, and helped form Russia after the war.
