Russian nobles revolted against Alexander the 1 because of his actions. However when Nicholas took over he easily silenced this by killing a few, or by sending the rest to syberia. -
Czar Alexander 2 frees serfs
In 1861, the same year Abe Lincoln took office in America, czar Alexander the 1 freed the serfs. The nobles hated this so the attempted and sucseeded in assassinating him. -

Lenin wanted to call for a revolution. Then he and the Bohsheviks split apart to challenge the others. -
Russo Japanese War
This is an important war as it is the first in the 19th century as well as it is the first time an Asian country beat a European country. Plus because China and Japan were rivils, Russia became friends with them and extended the railway. -
Revolution of 1905
The Russioans wanted Nicholas the 2 to cahnge the government to a constitutional monarchhy. They marched in the street, and eventually led up to Bloody Sunday. -
Bloody Sunday
Father Georgy Gapon led a group of people on a raid in the Winter Palace. Many people died. This caused doubt and people started to hate Nicholas the 2 -
Russia enters WW1
Russia though the biggest and the most populated enters WW1 and they get slaughtered. They are unable to feed and arm their soldiers. In the war the lose over 7 million men.Then in 1917 they decided to end it and become peaceful. -
March Revolution
Russia was now very angry, with losing so many men in WW1 as well as they were now in poverty. People went on strikes, they rioted, and the cities were mayhem. -
Nicholas 2 abdicates throne
After many disasterous wars and strikes, Nicholas 2 finally steps down from the thorne. Afterwards he and his family are taken somewhere to live. -
Lenin captures winter palace
After returning from being exiled by Nicholas the 2 a powerful man by the name of Lenin wanted to increase power in the Bolsheviks by rallying people. When he storms the Palace he sucseeds and takes over. -
Provisional government created
This was a failure because the leaders weren't very good, and it had two huge mistakes. The first was that it refused to give the poor any land. The second was that it wanted Russia to stay in WW1, which no one liked. -
Russian Civil war begins
For three years Russia is split into a civil war. It was the Mensheviks and the Bolsheviks. The Bolsheviks wanted to start communism, whereas the Mensheviks wanted to keep the same style government. -
Nicholas 2 executed
After living in almost peace for a year he and his family are told their getting there picture taken. When everyone is down and ready a group called the Bolsheviks fires on them. Afterwards they are burned and buried and any evidence of their death is gone. -
Lenin dies
Lenin dies on January 21 1924 at the age of 54 due to hemorrhage. When he dies, his right hand man, Joseph Stalin takes his place.
