    The Decembrist revolt or the Decembrist uprising took place in Imperial Russia on December 26th 1825. Russian army officers led about 3,000 soldiers in a protest against Nicholas I's assumption of the throne after his older brother, Constantine, removed himself from the throne.

    Nicholas II was forced to give up the throne as the ruler of Russia. Citizens demanded socialist reforms. Nicholas, his wife, and his children were all murdered so that there could be no more heirs to the throne.

    The civil war between the Bolsheviks, reds, and the Mensheviks, whites, waged on in Russia until 1920. The Whites represented all shades of anti-Communist groups, while the redds were pro-communism. The reds eventually won.
