    Russia signed an agreement and then they abandoned it and they lost in war. This sparked the citizens and then they revolted in the middle of the war. This made the Czar seem weak.
  • Revoluton of 1905

    20,000 people started a riot and demanded better working conditions. Nicholas II had his soldiers fire at them, which caused more strikers.
  • The Duma

    Leaders wanted Russia to become a constitutional monarchy. Nicholas approved The Duma, but ten weeks later, the Czar dissolved it as he was too power hungry.

    Nicholas led Russia into World War 1. They were unprepared and were not ewady for the German army. More than 1 million people were killed, wounded, or taken prisoner. His wife took over the government and she made it seem weak by letting Rasputin make all the political decisions.

    200,00 workers started a riot over shortages of bread and fuel. After a whole Nicholas' soldiers sided with the protesters. He was eventually forved to step down, revolutionaries executesd him and his wife.

    Armed factory workers stormed the Winter Palace. They called themselves the Bolskevik Red Guards. Theyt ook over government offices. Lenin ordered all peasents to divide the farmland and gave factory workers permission to run the factories. Russia also made a truce with Germany to stop the fighting.

    The treaty of Grest-Litousk was formed, the treaty was consisting of Russia and Germany. Germany signed it but they lost land.

    Len trotsky expertly commanded the Bolshevik Red Army. Civil War outbroke in Russia and other Western nations, (including the US) sent military aid and supplies to Russia to help the White Army. They were not much help though.

    The NEP was made, it allowed peasents to sell surplus crops, instead of giving it to the government. It lets small shops and industries to be under private ownership.

    In 1922 the country was named Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, in honor of the people and councils that helped in starting the Bolshevik Revolution.
