Decembrist Revolt
A group of workers protested Nicholas 1 becoming the Czar in Russia. It eventually failed due to bad organization and support. This was very important because it allowed for so much history good and bad to happen as Nicholas 1 became czar. -
Nicholas 2 becomes czar of Russia.
He took over the throne due to the death of his father. He was never trained and didn't know what he was doing when he was Czar. He was not the right person for the job and because of this that he was the last Czar. -
Russo Japanese War
The war started because both Russia and Japan wanted power over Korea and Manchuria. They eventually went to war and Japan ended up to win and stop Russias expansion east. This was the first time an Asian Power has beaten a European power. -
Bloody Sunday
Some workers decided to protest because they were getting econmic inequality. The group of workers marched onto the winter palace to protest. The police men were ordered to open fire on the protestors. This killed more than 100 people and a lot more were injured. This gave Nicholas 2 the nickname Bloody Nicholas. -
World War 1
Russia joined Serbia fight against Austria. This made Germany join and declare war on Russia. This overall helped Russias population even though it started the rise of the Boleshevik government. -
The March Revolution
Citizens of St. Petersburg were becoming angry because they were losing in world war 1 and they didn't have enough money to buy enough food to support them selves. They were going hungry. On March 4th worker demanded they get a 50% raise in pay to buy food. The company owners said no and the workers went on strike. The russian parliment told Nicholas 2 to send food to the people in the city he refused and ordered police men to shut down the riots. Then after a Duma (russian parliment) -
The March Revolt part 2.
joined the protestors Nicholas 2 ordered Duma to no longer meet. Because of this the Duma secretly met and created their own government to take place of the czar. This was the end of the Czar in Russia. -
Czar Nichols the 2nd abdicates the throne
He very unliked throughout Russia for being not very qualified for the job. He made many decisions that hurt the government. He decided to step down from his thrown in 1917 before the Bolsheviks took over the country. He was the last Czar of Russia. -
Russian Civil War
It was a war between the Red army (Bolshevik form of socialism) and the white army (people against the Bolshevik system). It went on for 3 years. The White army got help from Germany and The Red army got help from other parts of western Europe. In the end a lot of White Russians were put under polish Rule and Communism continued in Russia. -
The Creation of the USSR
The USSR was started after the Russian Civil war. The first Leader was Vladimir Lenin. He died shortly after the USSR was started. The dictator Joesph Stalin took full control after Lenin passed. The Ussr went from only a few countries to 15 countries towards the end of the USSR. -
Vladimir Lenin's Death
He was the first leader of the soviet union. He was only the leader for 2 years before pssing away. His body was embalmed and placed in a Mausoleum. Joseph Stalin was the man that took his place as leader.
