    The Decembrist Revolt
    This was when soliders from Russia started an uprising, led by high ranked officers themselves. This uprising took place in the Senate Square in St. Petersburg. In 1925, the square was renamed the Decembrist Square. The leaders were either exuted or forced to leave Russia.

    Czar Alexander II Emancipated the Serfs
    On this date serfdom (the system which tied the Russian peasants irrevocably to their landlords) was abolished in all of Russia by Alexander II. This made Russia one of the last countries to finialy outlaw the system.

    Nicholas II becomes czar of Russia
    This is the day when the 18 czar of Russia was crowned. Nicholas was also the last czar to be crowned. Even though he was the heir to the throne, he was not a natuural ruler.

    After Russia refused to sign a tredty about land, Japan Attcked a fleet of Russian ships in China. This started a war between these two countries. After a few battles, Japan was destrying Russia, After just 3 one sided battles, the war was over.

    This was when troops commanded by Nicholas II fired on a defenseless crowd of workers, who, led by a priest, were marching to the Winter Palace to petition Czar Nicholas II.
  • Bloody sunday

    In Januray of 195 a large group of peasents protested the way the czar was ruling. They were lead by Father Georgi Gapoon. As they were marching, they were met by a group of soldiers with guns aming at them. The marchers continued and the soliders opened fire on the unarmed crowd. In all they killed 100 peasents including women and children. The date was later called "Bloody Sunday".

    On this date Russia enter the first world war. With their troops, led by Nicholas, the Russia went to battle with Germany. The war ws hrd faught, but Russia suffered horrific death tolls.

    This was the first of the riots that soon would lead to a change in government. This is when riots broke out in ST.Petersburg. These roits broke out because of the shortage of food. Nichlous orderd the military to stop the riots, but most of them joined the protesters. Nichlous had to flee the city.

    After his own Military had turned on him Nicholas fled on a train. There he sigined the paper that gave up his throne and all of his power over Russia.

    This was the make-shift governemt that took over once Nichloas gave up the crown. During his time in office, he was riviled for support due to the rising Bolsheviks. Soon the Bolsheviks, stormed the capitol due to the recent arrest of Linen, the partys leader.

    This was when the Red Army, led by Linen, took over the Winter palace in St.Petersburg. Once the amry captured this city it was only a matter fo time before the White army was forced to surrender. This helped them win the Russian Civil war.

    As the family thought tat they were taking a family photo, Soliders slowly surrouned them. The soliders opened fire on the family killing them all. The family was baried in a neaby woods where they would rot for years.

    The Social-Democratic Labor Party splits into two groups, Mensheviks and Bolsheviks
    There were two kinds of parties. The Bolsheviks were led by Linen and were considered the communist party. The Mensheviks party was the party that still supported the old government that didn't have a single leader.

    The civil war was when the red Conuments fought the white pro czars. The Reds were lead by Lenin while the whites recived help from the allied forces including America. The conflict lasted for about three years, that ended with Linens forces winning.

     Vladimir Lenin dies and Josef Stalin becomes leader of the Soviet Union
    At the age of 54, Linen dies from a serirs of strokes. After is death Josef Stalin takes control of the soviet union.
