  • Alexander III Succeeded His Father

    This halted all reforms in Russia. Alexander III believed in form of government in which he had total power.The Russian people didn't like being controlled by one person so this led them to rebel.
  • Japan Attacked Russians At Port Arthur, Manchuria

    The Russians broke a series of agreements over territories with Japan, so Japan attacked Russians at Port Arthur, Manchuria. After news of Multiple Russian losses reached home it led to a revolt in the middle of the war. They were frustrated with the Russian military and their actions and those feeling led to a revolution.
  • Nicholas promised more freedom

    Nicholas approved the creation of Duma.Its leaders wanted Russia to become a constitutional monarchy similar to Britain, but because he was hesitant to share his power it ended after 10 weeks. The Russian people were tired of empty promises with no real progress, this would lead them to eventually revolt.
  • Bloody Sunday

    About 20,000 workers and their families went to the czar's Winter Palace with a petition for better working conditions. Nicholas II’s generals ordered soldiers to fire on the crowd.This led to multiple strikes and violence throughout the country. The Russian people got tired of how they were being treated and they wanted something better which led to a revolution.
  • Nicholas II Decided To Drag Russia Into WWI

    Russia could not handle the military and economic cost that the war brought. The Russian troops could not stand against the German army. Many Russian soldiers have been killed and this just weakened their military forces, so the Russian citizens were frustrated with this because it caused them unnecessary pain.
  • Women Textile Workers Led A Citywide Strike

    Riots came up over shortages of bread and fuel. At the beginning soldiers followed orders to shoot the crown but they later ended up siding with them. All of the workers in Russia got tired with the same conditions and shortages so this ultimately helped lead to the Revolution.
  • Czar Nicholas II Left His Throne

    The March Revolution was successful in bringing down the Czar.After the Czar was brought down they failed to set up a stable government to replace it. This left the Russians with no form of stable government and they wanted change so the eventually revolted.
  • Provisional Government Topples

    Armed factory workers stormed the Winter Palace in Petrograd. They called themselves the Bolshevik Red Guards,and they took over government offices and arrested the leaders of the provisional government. The people of Russia got annoyed with the fact that their government couldn't be steady so after a while they got fed up and started to revolt.
  • Treaty Of Brest-Litovsk

    Russia surrendered a large number of its territory to Germany and its allies. There were terms in this treaty that were humiliating and made the Russians very angry.The Russians were tired of being humiliated and they wanted change.
  • Russian Civil War

    The White Army shared a goal to defeat the Bolsheviks. Many western nations sent aid to Russia to help support the White Army. This brought many of the Russians together, they were united for a common goal and this just helped them get motivated to start a revolution.
