    Alexander II is bombed by a group called "People's Will" in the streets of St. Petersburg. The group's mission was to overthrow Russia's autocracy; the assassination of Alexander II was finally successful on March 13th, 1881, taking down the czar fgr good.

    The Russian Marxists split into two different groups over revolutionary tactics: the Mensheviks and the Bolsheviks. The Mensheviks wwanted the support of everyone, while the Bolsheviks were devoted to one change at a time and would willingly do anything to accomplish that goal, whether or not they had the majority vote and support.

    Russo-Japanese War

    The Russo-Japanese War progressed from a rivalry between Russia and Japan for dominance in Korea and Manchuria. The Japanese started the war by attacking Russian naval squadron at Port Arthur by surprise. Russia, then, surrended Port Arthur to Japanese. The last battle was fought in Mukden where Russian commander, General A.N. Kuropatkin, broke off the fighting and withdrew his forces northward from Mukden, leaving them to the Japanese. Financially poor, Russia and Japan both withdrew.
  • Bloody Sunday

    Bloody Sunday
    The Bloody Sunday was a massacre occurring in Russia. On January 22nd, 1905, workers (powered by priest Georgy Apollonovich Gapon) marched to the czar's Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. Their motive was to strike for better working and living condition, but the Imperials didn't find content in this. They started to open fire on the demonstartors, killing and injurying hundreds.

    Nicholas II issued the "October Manifesto" where he granted and promised civil liberties (rights). These included freedom of speech, press, and assembly. It also issued to establish franchise and to create the legislative document, the Duma.

    Meeting in the Tauris Place, the first Duma was under-way. The whole cause behind it was to have a parliament based very much on the British model with legislative powers. The Duma was passed to Nicholas II, who then issued it under power.

    World War I was a war bought between two oppsoing alliances: the Allie and Axis (or Central Power) powers. The Allies consisted of the French, Russian, and Italians. The Axis consisted of Germany, Hungry, Turkey, and Bulgaria. In the end, the Allies won.

    The October Strikes began October 17th, 1916 in Petrograd, Russia. The strikes eventually spread from Petrograd to Vasil'evskii Island, and then to Moscow turning the strikes city-wide. The strikes were not only supported by the workers and their familes, but also by revolutionary soldiers. Their purpose was to strike against the policies of tsarism, war, and low supply of food and necessities. The strikes ended on October 21st after the RSDLP called hault. The strike was sucessful.

    Nobles Murder Rasputin
    Rasputin is murdered by a group of nobles at Yusupovsky Palace. The motive behind his murder was to end the his influence over the royal family; including Nicholas II and Alexandra. After Nicholas II went off into battle in WWI, Rasputin even ruled over Russia for awhile. The nobles were uncontent by this, therefore ending it.

    The February Revolution was the first primary stage of the Russian Revolution starting on February 24th,1917 and ending on the 27th. It lasted three long days, full of protesting and rioting. The motives behind the February Revolution was to overthrow their current monarchy and to replace it with the Provisional Government (aka the Duma).

    On March 15th, 1917, Czar Nicholas II signs to surrender his throne in Russia. The cause for his abdiction was that whole Russia was blaming him for problems that he was unable to fix; he couldn't handle the heat. Some of these problems include sufferage of the commons such as food, water and shelter and for his lack of characteristics that a leader should possess.

    The Russian Civil War was a war fought within Russian boundaries between the Red and White Armies. In other worlds, the Red Army consisted of the Bolshevik, while the White consisted of oppossing forces of the Bolsheviks, aka anti-Bolshevik. In the end, the Red Army has defeated the White forces and won the war.

    The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was the treaty between Russia and the Central Powers during the first World War. It marked the agreement and exit of Russia from the war. It was signed on March 3rd, 1918.

    Vladimir Lenin Dies
    On January 21st, 1924, Russian politician and communist Vladimir Lenin dies at age 53 of a stroke. He was the leader of the Bolshevik of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party, and was one of the guiding roles in the October Revolution in 1917.
