    Decembrist Revolt
    The Decembrist Revolt was when the military had to swear their allegience to the Czar, and then some opposed and many revolted against the Czar. This occured for two pain reasons. One, is that Nicholas's older brother was originally supposed to take the throne, but married a Polish women so he couldn't, and people thought he cheated him out of the position. The second reason is that the Czar's views were too conservative, and he had the Secret Police and tried to control more aspects of life.

    (Couldnt Find Exact Date) After all of the mistreatment of the millions of peasants, he set them free. This was actually mainly because most of them fought unwillingly, being forced to fight in the Crimean war which made them weak, This was to regain strength.

    There was a Revolutionary group who did not like the Czarist autocracy. Many tried to kill him before, but one man threw a bomb at him which took his life. This led to Nicholas being put in power when he didn't have much experience, which turned out destroying the whole type of goverment of the Czar,

    After the Russians rejected splitting Koreas into two sections, they were put into war. The Russians were just killed, they didn't get the land, and signed a peace treaty. One of the huge causes of the Revolution.

    Led by a priest, a peaceful protest was led in search of Democracy and food. Nicholas told the guards that if the people did not leave thery should take action. They opened fire, and about 1,000 were killed. This obviously angered people.

    The shoorting at the capitol really sparked this. There were just a series of strikes, and the Soviets were getting it together. When the troops came back from the Russo-Japanese war in December is when he had them help in putting it all down. Nicholas established power.

    Russia's expansion into Korea provoked Japan. If they could pull this war with them off, Nicholas would be a hero, but they were not prepared and many didn't even have guns! They were annihilated and people saw them as weak. They signed a treaty and pulled out.

    After Nicholas adbicated the throne, the revolution began. DUMA set up the Provisional (Temporary) Government with a constirution that had U.S like qualities such as: freedom of speech, press, religion. Set up by Karensky. The socialists who wanted the czarist type gov't back became the Soviets, and they challenged this gov't.

    The Czar was not exactly trained to be the leader of this nation, so when he stepped in to lead the war, it had terrible consequences. The war failures lowered morale, and they were running out of food, so when the army and workers striked in Petrogad he was forced to adbicate.
