The treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty signed at the end of World War I. This took six months to achieve, which ended the long years of fighting emotionally. The armistice was signed 6 months prior to the signing of the treaty.

On this date, the Declaration of the USSR was formed. There is also a Constitution to back this event up. A lot of these changes were thanks to Lenin, who signed several documents before his death.

Stalin ruled in the communist party. Before Stalins rule, he was given power from Lenin. Trotsky was forced into exile in 1927. *Note, this event did not occur on January 1st.
