  • The Decembrist Revolt

    The Decembrist Revolt
    A group of nobles and some army officer tried to overthrow the Czar’s government in hoping of creating a constitutional monarchy. Czar Nicholas I didn’t agree with the idea and therefore imposed strict censorship, banned books from the West that might contain liberal ideas and, executed five leaders and exiled hundreds. Because of this, the people did not agree with this and therefore, could of lead to the Russian Revolution.
  • Czar Alexander II Emancipates the Serfs

    Alexander the II gave serfs political rights and was allowed to keep their homes and tools. In addition, instead of being given land, they had to purchase it themselves at relatively high prices. In addition, since they were given so many extra rights and rewards, they felt like they needed more; the Russian Revolution helped them gain more rewards by having an equal form of government.
  • The Assassination of Alexander II

    About 20 days later after he signed the Emancipation to free the serfs, he was assassinated. There were still many unresolved issues; and the people needed to find a way to resolve them. The Russian Revolution was their way of resolving the problems that they faced and would have more freedom then they ever imagined.
  • The Revolution of 1905

    : After the events of Bloody Sunday, this horrified Russians and created the Revolution of 1905. To try to stop the violence, Czar Nicholas II finally agreed to set up an elected assembly called the Duma. The Duma didn’t help as much as they the people thought it would, and therefore still wanted a different power of government. After winning the Russian Revolution, they received what they wanted and got a democracy.
  • Bloody Sunday

    Father Gapon, the leader of this march, went on strike near the Winter Palace asking for better working conditions and some political freedoms. Later on that day, the palace soldiers shot and killed over 1000 incident citizens. The result of this made the people furious. They still wanted their freedom and independence which is what resulted in the Russian Revolution.
  • The Russo-Japanese War 190 Sept. 5th 1905:

    A conflict between Japan over Korea and Manchuria led to the Russo-Japanese war. When Russia won, it increased great economic hardships. With the increase of the economic hardships of Russia, they needed someone to reliably lead the way to use the surplus wisely. The Russian Revolution helped them because since they created a Russian Democracy, they now had a more than one person that had supreme power because there were different opinions involved.
  • World War I (Russian Involvement)

    Since Austria and Hungary were being attacked; Russia stepped in the war as well. But with the lack of supplies and transportation needs, they suffered enormous losses. Russia blamed their loss on the czar and their generals. Russia still wanted to gain independence somehow, so therefore they set up new strategies and skills to win their independence during the revolution.
  • The March Revolution

    People of Russia protested in Petrograd because of food shortages during the war and everyone blamed the war mishaps on Czar Nicholas II. After he was over thrown, the Duma set up the provisional government. Since this was only temporary, the citizens wanted something more permanent. They fought for their rights and in the end, they won winning a new form of government: Russian democracy.
  • Czar Nicholas II abdicates the Russian throne

    Since Russia lost the World War 1, the people blamed him for his mistake and therefore, he was forced to abdicate the thrown. After the czar was overthrown, Russia had a temporary government. The people of Russia were not happy with the way Russia was going; so, therefore, they had a Russian Revolution which would settle the disagreement in deciding which type of government they should have.
