    Food and fuel shortages were a main cause of the government collapse. Rallies and strikes were held by the citizens of St. Petersburg. On the advice of military and political leaders, Nicholas II was forced to give up his throne.

    After Lenin came out of exile in Petrograd, he immediately tried to take over the temporary government, but the government did not let him succeed.

    Although the government tried to stop Lenin, he managed to continue to run the political party of the Russian Social-Democrat Labor Party and his party moved back into Russia and took over.
