    Alexander II issues a decree that abolished the practice of serfdom. The Serfs were allowed to buy land, marry and had the oppurtunity to own businesses. Although the serfs were free there was a lot of economic hardships because they were forced to buy poor land and ended up going into debt as a result.

    The social Democratic Party was a revolutionary party that wanted the destruction of Capitalism and to overthrow the czar. The Menshiviks and the Bolsheviks had split. Menshiviks: favored a large, loosely organized democratic party.
    Bolsheviks: had a small tightly organized democratic party and was very disciplined.

    Nihcolas II is forced to give up his throne and is arrested by the Bolsheviks who control the Soviets. Czar Nicholas II is taken to Yekaterinburg which he and his family are then klilled.

    This happens after Nicholas gives up his throne. A new government is going to replace what he ended (the czars leaders). Because of this the Bolsheviks now lead Russia and the Soviets and Lenin is made a new leader.
