    There was a total 37 million grisly casualties when WWI ended in 1918. Germany was not ready for such defeat and their defeat resulted in a sense of injured German pride. The responsible leaders told Germany that it had been “stabbed in the back” by communists, Jews and leftwing politicians. A new government, the Weimar Republic, then tried to establish a new democracy and caused many different political parties to try and gain control. The Weimar Republic struggled to handle the disorder.

    The Treaty of Versailles
    The Allies forced the Germans to sign a harsh, strict treaty that took away much of their land, their military and all of their colonies.
  • The Beer Hall Putsch

    The Beer Hall Putsch
    Hitler attempts to overthrow the Munich government (the Beer Hall Putsch) and it fails miserably. It lands him in jail, but after Hitler rants on for ages in the trial his sentence gets taken down to 5 years, and he manages to get out in 1.

    Mein Kampf
    Hitler writes, "Mein Kampf", which translates to, "My Struggle" during the time he was in prison. He was released from prison and formally resurrected the Nazi Party, which now had 27,000 members.

    The stock markets crash in America and the Great Depression begins to infect Germany. Unemployment leaped up to 33.3% and Hindernburg created the Weimar Democracy, a new government in Germany as a result.

    Hitler Gets 37% Of Vote
    After a very successful propaganda election the Nazi Party gets 37% of the seats in the Reichtag. After the other leaders of Germany underestimated Hitler's abilities they were led to make desperate political choices which ultimately led to the Nazi Party taking over the government.
