  • Mexican Independence

    Mexico won its independence from Spain.
  • The Shaping of Mexican Texas

    Austin arrives in Mexico City at the end of April 1822 but could not accomplish anything immediately. Finally, in January 1823, the junta passed an Imperial Colonization Law that confirmed Austins grant, Each family would receive land if they were stock raisers.
  • Texas Revolution

    Also called the War of Texas Independence, a war fought from October 1835 to April 1836 between Mexico and Texas colonists.
    This resulted in Texas's Independence from Mexico.
  • Battle of Gonzales

    It was the 1st battle of the Texas Revolution in Gonzales, Tx. The fight was for possession of weapons. Texas colonists won the battle, which gave them confidence that they could take on the Mexican army.
  • Fall of the Alamo

    At the beginning of February 1836. Texan military forces consisted of nearly one hundred men in the Alamo. William B Travis was the commander of the Alamo. He knew there were not enough men to win the battle. James Bowie and Davy Crockett were also leaders that helped.
  • Travis and Bowie

    Travis was commander of the Texans and Bowie was the leader of the clounteers.
  • Sam Houston

    Elected as president of Texas. Ran away from home at an early age, Also loved the Indians. He was born to fight wars.
  • 1836 Convention

    The convention without debate adopted a declaration of independence, this document argued that Mexican violations of the Constitution of 1824 had caused the revolt and necessitated separation as a matter of "self-preservation". Texas, it concluded, is a free sovereign, and independent republic."
  • Texas Declaration of Independence

    Which was written by George Childress, This stated that Mexico denied them the rights guaranteed by the Mexican Constitution of 1824. Texas also stated that they were deprived of freedoms from the U.S. Constitution.
  • The Battle of San Jacinto

    Commander Sam Houston lead Texas. Santa Anna lead the Mexican army. A great victory for Texians and the Tejano allies left the Republic of Texas far from secure in any way.
  • Treaty of Velasco

    Two treaties were signed by Santa Anna & David Burnett officially ending the Texas Revolution. All Mexican armies moved south of the Rio Grande.
  • The Republic of Texas

    Anson Jones was the fourth and final president of the Republic of Texas. He made the annex decision. Texas was annexed by the US in 1845. Texas statehood became offical.
  • Annexation to the United States

    Texas was admitted to the Union as the 28th state. Texas wanted to be annexed because they were already in debt. Mexico didn't want it to happen. They knew it would be harder to win back.
  • Mexican-American War

    The conflict between the U.S and Mexico.Dispute over whether Texas ended at the Nueces River or the Rio Grande.
