    A group of American- born residents of the Mexican Province of texas rebelled against the government of Mexico and ultimately declared Texas to be independent republic.

    Texas Independence

    The republic of Texas proudly but precariously existed as a separate and unique nation.
  • Texas declares Independence from Mexico

    The Texas Declaration of Independence is signed by 58 delegates. This happens at the Washington on the Brazos and the Republic of Texas is declared.
  • News

    James Bonham arrives at the Alamo telling William B. Travis that James Fannin was not coming.
  • Battle of the Alamo

    A lot of Texans died fighting this battle and on the thirteenth day all the defenders of the Alamo died. This included the famous soldiers William B. Travis, Davy Crockett, and Jim Bowie.
  • Battle of Rufugio

    The Texan troops were attacked by general Urea and after several hours of the battle the Texans retreated.

    David G. Burnet becomes president for the Republic of Texas.
  • Battle of Caleto

    This was one of the most horrific episodes of the war that took place at old presidio. James W. Fannin was in control of Fort Golidad at the time. He was fearing the approach of Mexican forces, and decided to retreat with the supplies and men. Two weeks later the famous Texan defeat at the Alamo, Fannin troops encountered the Mexican army. They were taken prisoners for one week.
  • Santa Anna

    Santa Anna gave the order to execute James Fannin and all the Texans. There was between about three to four hundred Texans that lost their lives that day.
  • Letter to David G. Burnet

    During the Texas Revolution, Houston was encamped near the Brazos River in his march across Texas. He wrote David G. Burnet the following: " I have kept the army together under most discouraging circumstances, and I hope a just and wise God, in whom I have always believed, will yet save Texas... I am sorry that I am so wicked, for the prayers of the righteous shall prevail."
  • Battle of San Jacinto

    This was a glorious victory for Sam Houston and the Texans. When their independence was achieved Houston was chosen as the first president of the Texas Republic and later became governor after admission of Texas into the union.
  • Treaties of Valasco

    The treaties of Velasco were signed by the Republic of Texas officials and Santa Anna ending the Texas Revolution.

    Texans vote on new government officers. They vote on national constitution, and the question of annexation of the U.S. and the vot was in favor.

    Houston becomes president of the Republic of Texas.

    Cherokee kills eighteen extended-family members in the Killough Massacre. This was the largest native american attack on white settlers in Texas.

    Mirabeau B. Lamar becomes president of the Republic of Texas.

    The Cherokee attacked the Texian army. Both of the cherokee chiefs died during this war.
