I started using Wix.com to create the blog that i would use to document what happeneding throughout the creation of mty final piece. -
Survey Monkey
I created a survey monkey account and sent out my survey to people in my college and my family to see what my demograhic was and what type of things i should inlude in my final product -
Xara
After aquiring some research i began to build Radio Rumford. I started by using Xara graphic desinger to create a brand for the station which i could put onto the blog. -
RAJAR
During my industry research i used RAJAR (Radio Joint Audience Research) . An online tool that allows you to look up audience figures and statistics about media outlets. In my case it showed me the audience share of the radio stations i was researching -
Recording
I used the microphones in the college radio studio for most of the recording. These where most suitable due to the pop filters availble to use with them along with the soundproofing on the walls of the radio studio. This made it sound much more proffesional than it would if i had used amature equipment. -
Monitors
Whilst recording i also used the auxillary monitors connected to the mac computer. This allowed me to put the scripts and prompts on these screens instead of using paper of signals which could have disrupted the recording -
Recording
When recording the pieces for the vox pop i used my Iphone 6s. This made it sound more like a conventional vox pop with a slightly lower sound quality than heard in the studio. This brings the location to life and allows verisimilitude. -
Editing
When editing my final piece together (and also when recording it) i used audacity as it is a program that i am farmilliar with. As well as using it to simply edit the clips together i also used add some effects to the audio. This was mainly the reduction of noise in the background and amplifying the voices if they became too quite. -
Sound Effects
For the outside broadcast and to create the jingles i needed some music and sound effects. I got these sound effects free from freesound,org. An orgranisation that offers a collection of free sound effects that are avalible to download and be used free of charge.
