My Acts in The Parliament

One of my first acts in the parliament had been to reduce in a proposed fraud for King Henry VII. In revenge, the king had prisoned my father and didn’t release him until a fine was paid from myself.

I was one of those people accused of involving with Elizabeth Barton the nun who opposed king Henry’s break with Rome but I was not attained due to the protection from the lords and I refused to pass the bill until my name was of the name list. In April I also refused to swear to the act of succession and the oath of supremacy and I was committed to the tower of London on April 17.

I was found guilty of betrayal and was beheaded next to bishop fisher on July 6 1535. my final words before I died were ‘The kings good servant, but God’s First’.Saint Thomas more was canonized by the Catholic Church as a saint by Pope Pius XI in 1935.
