The fight began and didnt end until the morning of March 6, 1836

    Battle of San Jacinto
    The Texas military under Sam Houston, the leader, gave a surprise attack against the forces of General Santa Anna and his troops near the San Jacinto river. The Texas volunteers initally suffered defeat against the forces of Santa Anna. Later, Sam Houstons's troops were forced into an eastwood retreat and the Alamo fell. However, Sam Houstons army surprised a Mexican force at San Jacinto, Santa Anna was captured, leading an end to Mexican efforts to subdue Texas.
