Holocaust Capture
Elizer and his family's town is taken over by the the police and turned into a ghetto. At first the town acts as if everything is normal since the authorities were pleasant at first. Over time, it began to change. The town is slowly captured and deported to concentration camps. People leave in groups until the entire town is captured. -
Elizer's Mother and Younger Sister Die
Upon arriving at the concentration camp, Elizer and his father are seperated from his mother and sisters. Elizer's mother and younger sister, Sarah and Tzipora, are murdered in a gas chamber almost immediately. Beatice and Hilda were not killed and worked in the labor camps. -
Elie and his father are sent to Buchenwald
After arriving in Auschwitz, Elie and his father are later sent to Buchenwald, another concentration camp where Shlomo will die and Elie will remain at until the camp's liberation. -
Elizer's father, Shlomo, dies
Elizer's father is asking Elie for water as an SS officer is passing by. The officer yells at Elie's father to be quiet but he keeps begging for water. The SS officer told him once again shut up but since Shlomo, Eli'es father, didn't listen, he was dealt a blow to his head. Elie didn't move due to the fear of also being beat. After roll call, Elie watched his father. He engraved the bloodstained face and shattered skull in his memory. Elie's father was gone next morning. -
Liberation
The camp was liberated by the US army when they were just prepared to be evacuated from Buchenwald.
