Elie Wiesel meeting Moishe the beadle is a positive impact to him. Elie Wiesel reaches out to Moishe because he wanted to learn the ways of Kabbalah and Moshie was the only person who knew how to teach it. This relates to the theme because he is curious and wants to know more about it.

When Elie and his family reach the camp he is instantly separated form his sisters and mother and never sees them again without knowing it. But in the story he still hopes and prays that he will see them again. This is a negative impact on him without knowing because he does not know the fact that he will never see his mother and sisters again. The relates to the theme because this is the point where he starting doubting he religion and god.

In the camp there were a group of boys stealing food because they did not get enough of it. This went on for awhile but they were caught and as punishment they were hanged and everyone in the camp had to watch. One boy took 30 minutes to die and Elie was forced to watch the boy suffer. This is a negative impact to him because if his god is all knowing and sees everything why doesn´t he stop this or why is he letting this happen because its very bad and harmful.

After their last death march they reached the camp were they would soon be liberated. But a boy named Juliek had no more strength to continue. He played Beethoven, his favorite artist until he died. This was a negative impact on Elie because he couldn´t understand how a person can play an instrument when so close to his death. This relates to the theme because he is know doubting that there is a god anymore.

Elie father dies on the final days before liberation. His father is terribly sick and can barely move. When he died Elie didn´t care about anything anymore he felted like he couldn´t continue anymore and no reason to continue. This was a negative impact to him because he has no will power and no hope to ever getting out of this camp and die alone. This relates to the theme because at this point he lost all hope to his religion because he can´t understand why god sees his suffering and lets it.
