After the queen was overthrown a new president came to rule Hawaii his name was Sanford Ballard Dole. Born April 23, 1844, died June 9, 1926, he was the first president of the Republic of Hawaii and first governor of the Territory of Hawaii after it was annexed by the United States. -
Annexing
On 1898 America annexed Hawaii as a territory of the U.S.The U.S annexation of Hawaii came with the U.S-Spanish War in 1898, in which the U.S aquired for the first time an overseas empire such as the Philippines, Puerto Rico. -
