End of WW1
WW1 ended with the German defeat. From then on, there was a new thought that came to the mind of both the Germans and Hitler himself! 'Stab in the Back' theory, blaming the Jews for the war efforts. -
The League of Nations, founded!
The L.O.N. was an intergovernmental organization, from the first world war. The goal of this organization, was to bring the people back to world peace. In the 1930's, they were incapable, of overcomming the Axis Power. -
Signing of the treaty of Versailles
Another attempt for world peace. But in this case, this was one of the treaties signed at the end of world war 1. It ended Germany and the Allied Powers. -
Hitler, and his Nazi Gang!
This group, was active from 1920-1945. In German, the name was Nationalsozialist. This group used to fight for anti-communism, but changed over the years. -
Hitler: an author!!??
Hitler, did as a matter of fact, write abook! In here, he described his youthfulness and his days within the early Nazis. He didn't write it on his own, but gave credit to a man that wrote this in his prison cell. -
Germany and the L.O.N.
On January 25 1919 the League of Nations is established. The aim of this supranational organization is to end war once and for all. Between 1934-1935 58 countries are members. The League of Nations is dissolved in 1946 and succeeded by the United Nations. Germany becomes a member in 1926 -
The Burning of the German Reichstag
The Reichstag building, seat of the German government, burns after being set on fire by Nazis. This enabled Adolf Hitler to seize power under the pretext of protecting the nation from threats to its security. -
The First Concetration Camp!!
The SA was eventually replaced by Himmler's SS as the concentration camp system expanded to house an ever increasing number of political opponents and Jews, arrested and imprisoned without a trial or any right of appeal. -
Germany and the Nazi Party
The Nazi Party became a para-governmental organization in Germany. This became their only political party. -
'Night of the Long Knives'
The four million brown shirted Nazi storm troopers, the SA, included many members who actually believed in the 'socialism' of National Socialism. And also wanted to become a true revolutionary army in place of the regular German Army. -
Hitler becomes "Furher"
By the summer of 1934, the elderly German President, Paul Hindenburg, lay close to death at his estate in East Prussia. He had been in failing health for several months, giving Adolf Hitler and the Nazis ample opportunity to make plans to capitalize on his demise. -
No More Rights!?
The Nuremberg Race Laws of 1935 deprived German Jews of their rights of citizenship, giving them the status of "subjects" to Hitler. The laws also made it bad for Jews to marry with Aryans or to employ young Aryan women as household help. -
Germany and Austria, Untie!
Adolf Hitler, Führer of Germany, accepts salutes and cheers from the Nazis after announcing the union with Austria. Immediately after this, the Nazis began a brutal crackdown on Austrian Jews, arresting them and humiliating them. -
The euthanasian of Germans!
Nazi euthanasia program eliminated "life unworthy of life" at first focused on newborns and very young children. Midwives and doctors were required to register children up to age three who showed symptoms of mental retardation, physical deformity, or other symptoms included on a questionnaire from the Reich Health Ministry. -
The Germans are coming! The Germans are coming!
There was a massive air raid on London/ British in itself! It was terrible, British children huddled in a makeshift bomb shelter experience a range of emotions as they endure an attack by Hitler's Air Force. -
Pearl Harbor!!
This was the day that the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Aboard a Japanese carrier before the attack on Pearl Harbor, crew members began to cheer for departing pilots. Many people died that day. -
It's 2 against 1!
Because of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, along with Britans issue, they both delared war on Japan. President Franklin D. Roosevelt signs the Declaration of War against Japan, December 8, 1941. -
The allies go in for the kill!
The allies land in Sicily, to bomb the town. During the invasion of Sicily, an American cargo ship is hit by a bomb from a German plane and its cargo of munitions explodes, off Gela, Sicily. July 1943. -
Hitler commits Suicide!
In April of 1945, Hitler moved into the Führerbunker. There he met with leaders, and was going to lose his position. On that note, he commited suicide! -
The war is done!!
Finally beaten, the Japanese envoy signs the Document of Surrender on board the USS Missouri in Tokyo bay. September 2, 1945. This meant that the war had ended!
