My Emotional Development was healthy because I was not in an environment that caused distress or fear. My mother states that my temperment was extremely good and that I was an easy and good baby. There was Secure Attachment due to the positive and strong bond that my mother provided. My social references involved my siblings, my father but he had a small role at this point, my grandfather and very close family friends. Therefore, the quality of care was consistent and solid.

  • Play Years: Psychosocial Development

The parenting style that was dominant in the home was authoritarian and my father was also very strict. My mother did her best to raise my self-esteem with her love and encouragment. Yet, due to my bilingual skill and my shyness, the school placed me into a slow learning group. It was detrimental to my self-esteem. Then in the following year when they raised me into the average class, they commended me on how I did such a good job over the summer reading books, eventhough I knew I did not read a lot.
