  • Haitian Independence

    The Haitian Independence was a slave rebellion in which the Haitian people fought for their independence and freedom from France. This was a 12-year battle to obtain the human rights they deserved. The Haitian Independence took place starting in 1791 and came to an end in 1804. The British people came to help Haitians, and by the end of the resistance, Haiti declared victory as well as freedom. Haiti was the second independent nation in the Americas.
  • Mexico's War of Independence

    On September 16, 1810, in Mexico, New Spain, The Mexican War of Independence began. Rather than being one giant ongoing battle, the Mexican War of Independence was a series of conflicts and events, political and physical between 1810 - 1821. The opposers of Mexico's Independence attempted to fight back but were eventually lacking resources and had to accept Mexico's Independence.
  • Italian Unification

    The Unification of Italy took place in 1815. Three notable men in leadership during this movement are Giuseppe Mazzini, Count Camillo di Cavour, and Giuseppe Garibaldi. The purpose of this movement was to unify Italy to stick together against their shared enemy, which was Austria.
  • Brazilian Independence

    Taking place in Sao Paulo in 1822, Brazil went through many political and military conflicts that led to its gaining its independence from Portugal.
  • Revolution of 1830

    The Revolution of 1830, also known as the July Revolution took place in France. The July Revolution took place to shift from a constitutional monarchy to the July monarchy.
  • Opium War

    The Opium War was a war fought between Great Britain and China. China attempted to hide the illegal opium trade. The effect of this was an increase in addiction in China. The main supplier was the British people. Great Britain won the first war in the Opium Wars.
  • Manifest Destiny

    Manifest Destiny was the self-righteous belief that it was the United States' god-given right to spread democracy and capitalism in North America.
  • Revolution of 1848

    Republican Revolts against European monarchies began in Sicily and then spread to France, Germany, Italy, and finally the Austrian Empire. This is referred to as the Revolution of 1848. Each and every one ended in failure.
  • Zulu Wars

    The Zulu War was a violent 5-month war that took place in South Africa. The Zulu wars were between the Zulu kingdom and the British kingdom in which resulted in British Victory.
  • Spanish-American War

    The Spanish-American War took place in 1898. The war was between the US and Spain. This ended the Spanish colonial rule in the Americas. The result of the Spanish-American war was The United States' acquisition of territories.
  • Boxer Uprising

    Boxer Uprising, also known as the Boxer rebellion, took place in Northern China from 1899-1901. The Boxer rebellion/uprising was an uprising against foreigners in a china. They violently tried to drive all foreigners out of China. Many countries sent troops to try and stop them from succeeding. The imperial powers won.
  • Panama Canal

    The Panama Canal is a waterway built as a waterway route between the two oceans.
