    My grandparents and my parents would sit down next to me and read to me as I looked over their shoulders. I studied the words and letters until I was able to read them myself. We would read almost every night. I was always eager to read anything, even at that age.
  • I was tested at a very high reading level

    In second grade I had my reading tested. They had discovered that I had a high-school level literacy comprehension.

    My teachers had told my parents to give me more challenging books. My parents had decided it was a good idea for me to pick out my own novel. I picked what is now my all time favorite: Frankenstein.
  • Teacher's began to give me books to read

    At age eight, I transferred to a charter school (Wright Elementary). They were very accommodating of my reading abilities and would find books that they believed would interest and challenge me.

    My junior year of high school I joined to Forensics team and performed DI (Dramatic Interpretation).
  • Taught to interpret poetry

  • Took a linguistics course

    For my ESL endorsement I had to take ENG 143 which is a linguistics course. I fell in love with the study and if I wasn't going to be a teacher, I might just be a linguist.
