I am the oldest child in my family. I was born in Edmonton, Alberta and I was raised in St. Albert near the Hole Greenhouse family.

My family moved to Cold Lake, Alberta when I was six years old. My parents bought a farm on the edge of Ethel Lake. It was there that I truly learned to appreciate gardening and the outdoors.

I attended the Cold Lake Public School from grades 1 to 9. My highlights were an academic award in grade 6, track & field, and being an awesome cheerleader. I was first on the bus and last off each day. I had many relatives and friends who made those bus trips the best part of the day!

Grand Centre High School is where I discovered my love for English Language Arts and tutoring. I had a wonderful opportunity to tutor ESL students.

In 1985, I graduated with an advanced diploma, but the best part was graduating with 200 other graduates that had come from all over the world. Our high school was the designated high school for the military base. It was through these friendships that I was determined to explore the world.

I entered the Business Administration program as I knew I wanted to gain additional education.

I started my first chain of women's clothing stores. I operated these stores for 9 years and sold the corporation. This was a great learning experience!

I worked with husband in a grocery store partnership for 7 years. I trained many people in all aspects of the industry. We had wonderful experiences travelling the globe and attending food conferences. I learned about many different cultures and customs.

I trained corporate volunteers to deliver Junior Achievement Programs for 5 school divisions in central Alberta. It is through this job that I found my passion for teaching in the classroom and decided to return to school.

I returned to Red Deer College for upgrading and I finished with a University Transfer Studies Diploma. I made President's Honor Roll!

I tutored a variety of 100 to 300 level course for three years. I gained valuable insight from students on academic probation and students with disabilities.

I supervised a dynamic group of students from K-5 on Mondays for two years.

I returned to the Donald School of Business to complete a Management Certificate. I made the Dean's list!

We built and started a quick-service restaurant in Gasoline Alley, Red Deer.

I developed new curriculum for the volunteer classroom presentations. I facilitated employer/school surveys and presented information sessions in the classroom throughout central Alberta.

I was accepted to the University of Alberta - Bachelor of Education Middle Years Collaborative Program at Red Deer College. I am anticipating my graduation for spring 2018.
