I was born in Toronto, Ontario.
Parents: Gordon & Violet
Siblings: Wendy & Edward -
I attended for K-3.
! walked to school.
My favorite memory was singing Christmas Carols in the hall with the whole school while teachers played instruments. -
Toronto Junior Academy became Crawford Adventist Academy when changed from a K-10 school to include grade 12. That was after I attended there. To go to a Christian school I had to travel 2 1/2 hours each way. It was the best thing I ever did. The picture shows some of the friends I made that first year - we get together every year (as many as can) for March Madness.

After my first year of college I got a job at Branson Hospital, our Adventist hospital. I started out in Housekeeping but then was asked if I was planning to return to college. If not, they would train me as a unit secretary. I decided to get the on-the-job-training and I've never regretted it. When I did go back to school I had work for every holiday and it helped to pay my way through school. I learned a lot about my self that year and discovered I had value.

This time I was working of the pediatric unit. I had started out as a personal secretary for the Purchasing Agent. Good money but I hated being stuck in an office by myself so I transfered to peds when it opened. I was often called to help with the kids because they responded to me. I loved rocking the babies.

By a series of events that God put in motion I came to CUC. I was hired as Student Dean at the dorm with the opportunity to take 12 credits. Even though my job was full time I took a full load of classes. I was eager to be done. I graduated in 1982.

Frank and I met as I was leaving heading to Grande Prairie and he was heading to CUC from Grande Prairie.

The next year we found ourselves caretaking a ranch. We had many experiences while on the 364 acre property with our closest neighbords 11km away. Here you see the girls enjoying a newborn fawn we saw on the way to church (2 /1/2 hours away).
-
Next we found ourselves in Newfoundland. We had a house on the bay. Our district was wide from Bona Vista Bay to Cape Freels. Beautiful to experience - whale watching, walking the beach, iceburgs, lobster fishing, etc. Here you see the girls playiing with the shells they picked up on the beach in our backyard.

The road - another daring adventureWe moved here so that I could open an one room elementary school. This was the first time my daughters went to school - I had been homeschooling them. The picture shows the first day of school

I was called to Grand Forks to open another one room school.

We moved to Kelowna so our daughters could attend high school at Okanagan Adventist Academy. Our plan was to stay 7 years and leave when they were done. Now I am the principal. Hmm.

My cousin, Louise, died of ALS. She lived with us and was more like an older sister than a cousin. I miss her!
