    The Batlle of Gonzales was the first engagment of the Texas Reveloution.It was fought near Gonzales,Texas -thats how it got it's name-.It was fought over a small 6lb cannon.Just a random fact,within 2 days 140 Texans were already gathered.

    At this event Sam Houston was elected commander of the Texas army.This event was held mainly because the federalists were beggining to oppose the increasingly centralist policies.

    The Texas army camped at Concepion,first.This force had at least 1,000 men.They then camped on a ridge East of the San Antionio kept constant patrol of the town,The Texans then got information that General Cos was going to surrender.The Texans marched to the West side of the San Antonio River.They displayed eminance & offered surrender to the Mexicans.They refused.

    This convention was the meeting of elected delegates.It was held at Washington,On The Brazos Texas.Delegates at this convention unlike at others were quite young.At the Convention of 1836 something VERY important was drafted.Can you guess what that was.?It was the Texas Declaration of Independence.Drafted by George Childress literally over night.!Also the delegates elected an interim government,David G.Burnett was elected president.

    March 2,1836.....Texas declared independence.!!But before they could declare independence they had to write something.That something was the Texas Declaration of Independence.5 people were appointed to draft it,those people were George Childress,Edward Conrad,James Gaines,Bailey Hardeman,& Collin McKinney.Also they delcaration parelled somewhat with the Declaration of the United States.
