    In around, 1000 A.D, Vikings made a small stop along these shores thinking it was what they were looking for. They soon realized it wasn't and left. You are probably wondering what I am talking about? Around 500 years befor eChristopher Columbus discovered America, the vikings made a small stop near America which is now Canada today. This picture shows them traveling towards Canada.

    Normans descended fron the Vikings, who soon decided to settle in Normandy, Northern France for a little while. A liitle later, in 1066 William conquered England, which caused England to be ruled by the Norse. This picture represents Vikings traveling towards Normandy.

    The Vikings started random but destructive raids all around Northern Europe, closer to England. Many people started living in fear towards the vikings. This time was 800 C.E.

    In 986, Eric the Red discovered England. he was one of the most important vikings. He was the first European to sail in Greenland. He sailed in 982 from Iceland and reached 4 years later with many colonists.

    The 9th century is 801-900 and the 10th century is 901-1000. During the 9th and 10th century, Vikings attacked England and conquered a major part of Englkand. They also told them that "if you don't wanrt us to wreck the rest of the country, then pay us money". So of course, to save their country, the paid the money and the vikings didn't ruin the rest of England.
