The assationation of Ferdinand and Sophie
A Serbian nationalist, Gavrilo Princip, was mad at Austria-hungary and killed Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife. This started a war between Austria-Hungary and Serbia. Germany had a alliance with Austria and they had to protect them. -
First battle of Marne
Germany makes the first move and they defeat France fast then invade through Belgium to avoid the France/Britain border. The French then launched counter assaults after 5 days and it pushed the Germany’s back 40 miles. This gave Russia more time to think and move. -
The United States enters the War
The British blockade prevented America from getting any of there supply from Germany. This made them very mad and and they created a “ WAR ZONE”. They attacked any ships that entered and this made America even more mad. -
Russia v. Germany
Communists over though the Russian government and Vladimir Lenin became the leader. Germany than had time to focus on defeating the west. -
The United States go to War
President Wilson never wanted war and only wanted “ peace without victory “. Germany sank 5 American Merchant ships. This gave Wilson no choice and he declared war. -
The second battle of Marne
This battle saved Paris. The goal was to cut off Germany's railroads. -
The War ends
Allies demanded a total surrender to stop the war. Wilson became the moral leader of the world. -
Treaty of Versailles
Wilson crossed the Atlantic and arrived in Europe. Then in January 1919 there was a Pairs peace conference.
