Lifespan Developmental Psych

  • I AM BORN

  • Period: to

    Biosocial, Cognitive and Psycological

I develop a strong attachement to not only my mother but also thumbsucking.
  • I get my very first room

  • Period: to

    Early Childhood

I am learning how to potty train! Also I start school pretty young around 4 years old and make my very first friends other than my siblings.
  • Period: to

    Middle Childhood: Ages 6-11

I start growing a lot faster than my peers and hit puberty at the very end of this developmental stage.
  • Period: to

    Adolescence

I started puberty and started dealing with body image issues around 11-12 yrs old. I became a lot more concerned with my image and appearing feminine, especially around the opposite sex. Dieting became an everyday life for me, as well as mood swings and outside peer pressure as I continued through this timespan.
  • Unstability

This is the year that marked my fathers relapse into Alcoholism. He had struggled and gotten help with this when I much younger but he had been sober since I was 5 or 6. At this time I was entering middle school, had very low self-esteem and struggled with my yo-yoing weight. I didn't know how to deal with the unstability in my home life and started to self-harm. My sister thankfully kept a close eye on me and was my support system while I foudn more constructive outlets like running.
  • Psychological Struggles

Around the age of 16, my desire for control and stability became a full blown eating disorder, making me feel even less stable. This continued into my senior year until I sought treatment after flipping from one type of disorder to the other. The last year in this stage was filled with lots of relearning who I was and who I wanted to become in the future.
  • First Experience with Death

The most painful experience of my life so far was the month before I left for my first year of college, my boyfriend and best friend who helped me survive returning to my very small town after treatment died in his sleep from unknown causes.
  • Period: to

    Emerging Adulthood

Started My first two years of college at Northwestern Michigan College, where I was majoring in psychology. Started to learn to be more independent and learned how to baalnce school, work and my social life. My confidence started increase compared to high school. The second two years of college were spent at Norhtwood University where I decided I was going to go into the accounting profession and maybe pursue psychology later in life. I had my first internship my Jr. summer.
  • Period: to

    Adulthood

In the early years of the stage I will be just starting my career and possibly a family shortly after. I will face the realization that I will be a mom and wife to someone and I will also have to deal with the emotional rollercoaster that is accompanied by those status's. I will more than likely go through a midlife crisis due to my history with depression. In the later years I will get to experience the joy of being a grandparent and also have to adjust how I take care of my older body.
  • Period: to

    Late Adulthood

Welcome to my geriatric stage! At first I know I am goign to have reservations about being older and approaching the end of my life, however I know I will hit a point where I let go of all of those worries and simply start enjoying everyday for myself! I will more than likely move to a retirement community where I can join social groups and try out new hobbies! I am hoping I continue to travel the world as well and do all of the things I was too afraid to do when I was younger.
  • Death and Dying

    Death and Dying
Towards the end of my life I know my main priority will be to spend as much time with my family as I can. Death is going to be scary and a little bitter sweet; I will be heartbroken to leave behind all of loved ones on earth but excited to be reunited with all of those who had left before me. Death will be just another adventure in the story of me.
