On February 14, Vladek marries his first wife Anja. At the time he was 30 and she was 24 years old.

Sometime in October of 1937, Anja gave birth to their first son in Sosnowiec.

Vladek was once again called for service in the Polish Army.

The start of WWII began when Germany invades Poland

On September 4, the Germans incade Sosnowiec and Vladek is arested as a prisoner of war while in the army.

Around this time in February, Vladek is released from the P.O.W. Camp and is sent to Lubin, which wasn't where he wanted to go.

The Nazis declare war on the United states

The jews were first called the Sosnowiec Stadium, where Jews went either left or right depending on their condition. Vladek and Anja along with Richieu went the "good way" while his parents went the other wat and were sent to Auschwitz and straight to the gas.

The Germans come and their forces occupy Hungary

In the Spring of 1944 Wiesel and his family are transported to Birkeau by train. On the way there he and his father were crowded into a wagon with many others and even experiance violence and the reaction of a deranged women who screams "look at the flames" while there is nothing in the distance.

After being in Birkenau a few days/weeks later he along with his father moved tp Auschwitz. His first impression was that it was better than Birkenau. Here he was assigned his tattoed number.

After remaining in Auschwitw for about 3 weeks, Elie and his father were transported to the concentration camp in Buna. He explains it as though the camp had gone through an epidemic and that it looked empty and dead.

In January, 1945 Vladek is marced to Gross Rosen, and Anja to o, then to Ravensbruck.

They are moved to Buchenwald. Here Elie's father dies.

Vladek is moved here by train, and on April 29, the camp is liberated.

Buchenwald had been liberated sometime in April and Elie Wiesel then went to a french orphanage where he reunited with two of his sisters, Hilda and Bea.

Hitler commits suicide in a secret bunker with his wife.

Some time in 1946, Vladek and Anja move from Poland to Sweden where Vladek startsa business.

Sometime in 1948, Wiesel began to study literature, philosophy, and psychology at the Sorbonne in Paris.

Some time in 1955 Elie finally decides to write about his experiances in the Holocaust after meeting the French Catholic novelist and Nobel laureate Francois Mauriac.

During this time, Wiesel applied for citizenship to America and continued living in New York.

During 1969, Wiesel marrise his wife Marion whom is also a survivor of the Hoocaust and collaborates with him on his book's english translations.

Elie wins the nobel peace prize and delivers his acceptance speech in Oslo.
