    The jews were first called the Sosnowiec Stadium, where Jews went either left or right depending on their condition. Vladek and Anja along with Richieu went the "good way" while his parents went the other wat and were sent to Auschwitz and straight to the gas.

    In the Spring of 1944 Wiesel and his family are transported to Birkeau by train. On the way there he and his father were crowded into a wagon with many others and even experiance violence and the reaction of a deranged women who screams "look at the flames" while there is nothing in the distance.

    After being in Birkenau a few days/weeks later he along with his father moved tp Auschwitz. His first impression was that it was better than Birkenau. Here he was assigned his tattoed number.

    After remaining in Auschwitw for about 3 weeks, Elie and his father were transported to the concentration camp in Buna. He explains it as though the camp had gone through an epidemic and that it looked empty and dead.
